STAR WARS™: The Old Republic™

Star Wars: The Old Republic is an online role-playing game where players choose a side in the confrontation between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, pump and upgrade characters, and then fight other players from the opposing faction. The game features over 10 races and many worlds that the protagonist will travel through as they progress through the story chain of quests.

The first thing you need to know before starting the game is its monetization by the developers. In the game, there are three categories of players: f2p users, optional subscription players, and active subscribers.

At the start of the players choose sides to fight for: the Galactic Republic or the Sith Empire. On each side, we have four classes.

Each class has a choice of several races. The race does not affect gameplay: solely on the role interest of the player. Customization ends with the choice of the template four bodies. Yes, customization of the external parameters of the character is implemented sparingly, but this is not the main thing the developers rely on. The main trick of SWTOR is the story.

The first thing you pay attention to - fully voiced quest dialogues. In this case, the voice acting is done by professional voice actors.

The main storyline here is not one - there are eight, that is, every class has its storyline. And by going through all the storylines, and joining them together, we get the whole picture: the story that precedes a new full-scale conflict between the Republic and the Empire.

The plot here is built with a focus on single-player play, and as such, there is no goal or mission for the character. On the contrary, the story shows episodes from the life of the chosen class, and as such, up to the final fiftieth level, there will be no outcome. A good feature of the plot is the non-linearity of tasks.

What makes the game memorable, and why everyone loves it, is the beautifully choreographed cutscenes, which you watch like a new movie in the Star Wars universe.

It's worth noting that the main plot of the game goes until level fifty. But after that, players have the opportunity to buy story additions that expand the player's level up to the seventieth.

The choice in the quests affects the karma points, that is, the bowl of scales: light or dark side. Depending on the number of accumulated points of one side or the other, will be available to the appropriate "worldview" gear. However, it is not possible to sit on two chairs at once, so the difference of light and dark side points will be counted - it will be the real worldview points.

All of the plot developments will take place in solo instances. That is, the locations are solely for one player. It sounds interesting, but this makes the rest of the world, outside of the instances, is poorly designed with monsters and stuff.

Conclusion
The perfectly pitched storyline fits well with the standard MMORPG mechanics. The cutscenes are implemented to a high quality. A convenient payment system, allows you to try the game, its mechanics, and atmosphere before buying a subscription, which reveals all the colors of the game. Even on the f2p model, there is an opportunity to go through the whole story. The game deserves attention and the time spent on it.
